10:12 Good morning and welcome to AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live.

Coming up today... (all times UK)

The Silverstone MotoGP race day in full (Moto2 at 11.20, MotoGP at 13.00, Moto3 at 14.30)

The six-hour Nurburgring World Endurance Championship race from 12.00

The DTM at Moscow Raceway - qualifying at 11.25 and the race at 14.15

And then after a break, we're back in American mode this evening to cover the six-way fight for the IndyCar title at the Sonoma finale from 21.45.

Eugene Laverty, Aspar Honda, Silverstone MotoGP 2015

10:17 Moto2 - Silverstone: Race day starts with a Brit on pole - for the first time in a motorcycle grand prix at Silverstone since Barry Sheene's 500cc pole (ahead of Johnny Cecotto and Steve Parrish) here in 1977.

It's been a typically eventful weekend for Moto2 star Sam Lowes: he missed his 'in' board during qualifying and ran out of fuel near Stowe, but managed to get his Speed Up under the fence (dropping it on the way, which he hoped no one noticed...), on a truck and back to the pits in time to secure pole. He then had a tumble in the warm-up this morning.

It's a close front row: just 0.074s covers Austin winner Lowes, rookie sensation Alex Rins and championship leader Johann Zarco.

Fourth is reigning champion Tito Rabat, who'll be racing in some discomfort today after a nasty high-side in the complex during qualifying, in which he collected Dominique Aegerter. He escaped with bruising to his legs. His Marc VDS team-mate Alex Marquez - brother of Marc and reigning Moto3 champion - has been quick this weekend too but starts ninth.

Incidentally Lowes has been increasingly unsubtle about his 2016 plans this weekend. A move to MotoGP with Aprilia is anticipated.

10:22 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Qualifying for Sunday's second race of the weekend is about five minutes away, and we will have a full quota of cars.

Mercedes worked until 4am to get Christian Vietoris' car repaired - basically everything in the front end is new, including the engine - while the Abt Audis of Mattias Ekstrom and Miguel Molina are both up and about as well.

Ekstrom topped the morning warm-up, ahead of Molina and BMW's Bruno Spengler, but he will serve a three-place grid penalty today, for his clash with Timo Glock. The Turn 7 incident impressed the BMW man...

Mattias Ekstrom penalised, Timo Glock hits out over clash

10:23 Moto2 - Silverstone: Lowes loses his pole advantage as the race begins on a damp track, shuffled back to fifth behind Rabat, Folger, Zarco and Rins by the time they reached Becketts.

10:23 Moto2 - Silverstone: Lowes is losing more ground, down to seventh now. Rabat is having a storming first lap, opening up a comfortable gap.

10:24 DTM - Moscow Raceway: It's a fine and windy day here in Moscowish. There is a bit of cloud cover, but nothing too threatening.

If you missed yesterday's race, Mercedes' Pascal Wehrlein won and moved back into top spot on the standings, with seven races to go.

Mercedes' Pascal Wehrlein wins to reclaim points lead

10:25 Moto2 - Silverstone: Rabat completed lap one of 18 with an 0.8s lead over the battling Rins and Zarco. The points leader made it through on the rookie into Becketts.

Lowes dropped right back to ninth but is starting to regain ground, repassing Takaaki Nakagami.

10:27 DTM - Moscow Raceway: The 20-minute session is underway. These sessions have been a welcome addition to the weekends in 2015.

10:27 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco briefly takes the lead, then gets elbowed back aside by Rabat at Club.

It's Rins who takes full advantage, sweeping into first place, while Zarco is down to fifth.

Rabat and Rins swap the lead twice more, and Alex Marquez is making progress amid all this, getting up to third.

Lowes is back in ninth.

10:29 Moto2 - Silverstone: Rins makes a break in the lead, with Marc VDS team-mates Marquez and Rabat squabbling over second for a while before the younger Spaniard escapes and leaves Rabat to fight with Zarco once again.

Now it's Rins leading Marquez, like the old Moto3 days.

Lowes is stuck in a dice with Simone Corsi and Nakagami and runs 10th.

10:30 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Mixed fortunes for Blomqvist. He went fastest, then had a lurid spin after running wide on the exit of Turn 2. It spat him back across the track, narrowly missing stablemate Tomczyk, who was minding his business on the run to Turn 3.

10:31 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wittmann is now on top with a 1m28.686s. He was on pole yesterday with a 1m28.810s.

10:32 DTM - Moscow Raceway: And now it's Ekstrom, who goes top ahead of Wittmann, Rockenfeller, Blomqvist and Green, seven minutes in.

10:33 Moto2 - Silverstone: Rins is taking advantage of a lot of action between Marquez, Zarco and Rabat to build a bit of a lead, but he can't get more than a second clear.

Are the wet tyres going to last the remaining 14 laps if it doesn't rain again? Midfielders Florian Alt and Louis Rossi are trying slicks...

10:34 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Mortara and Paffett slot into fourth and sixth. Paffett starred yesterday, charging from 20th on the grid to seventh in the race.

10:34 Moto2 - Silverstone: Rins now has Zarco and Marquez right on his tail for the lead again.

10:35 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Halfway through the session, the order is Ekstrom from Wittmann, Rockenfeller, Mortara, Blomqvist, Paffett, Green, Martin, Gotz and Muller. Wehrlein is 18th.

We've got a relatively sparse circuit now, with the first runs complete.

10:37 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Just Spengler, currently 20th, and Glock, 24th on track at the moment. Glock looks set to improve with this lap, he qualified fourth yesterday.

10:38 Moto2 - Silverstone: One-third distance passed, Rins is clinging on to the lead but has Zarco, Marquez, Rabat, Luthi and Folger making a six-bike train.

Lowes has fought through to seventh, but there's a 7s gap to the lead pack ahead.

Alt's times on slicks are now as good as the leaders' pace on wets.

10:38 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Spengler jumps up to fifth, Glock improves to 16th.

With six minutes to go, it's about to get busy again.

10:39 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco makes his move into Brooklands and takes the race lead off Rins.

10:41 DTM - Moscow Raceway: As we start the final runs, Audi and BMW have three cars each inside the top six, the best Mercedes is Paffett in seventh.

10:42 Moto2 - Silverstone: A growing lead for Zarco now with Rabat back past Rins for second and Marquez trying to follow him.

Slick-shod Alt is on the same pace as the leaders but not dramatically faster. Ten laps to go, track still drying and clouds quite light in colour.

10:43 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Rockenfeller goes fastest with a 1m28.540s, Green is up to third.

10:44 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wehrlein jumps into fifth, as we enter the final minute.

10:44 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco is finding massively more pace than anyone else on the drying track. He's been over a second quicker than the rest for the last two laps and is now 3.5s clear of the battling Rabat, Rins and Marquez.

Lowes remains seventh, with Ricky Cardus and Anthony West now chasing him.

10:45 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Final moments here, still Rockenfeller from Eksteom and Green, as Muller makes it an all-Audi top four. Blomqvist is fifth.

10:45 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Paffett goes fifth after the chequered flag, but is dropped down to sixth, as Martin goes third.

10:46 Moto2 - Silverstone: As we reach half-distance, another fastest lap from Zarco takes him over 2s further clear of the Rabat/Rins/Marquez battle for second.

10:47 DTM - Moscow Raceway: That'll be it. Rockenfeller will start this afternoon's second race of the weekend on pole. He finished up 0.038s clear of Ekstrom (who'll drop to fifth on the grid).

That will elevate Bruno Spengler to the front row, ahead of Martin, Green, Ekstrom, Muller, Paffett, Blomqvist, Farfus and Wittmann. Wehrlein was 11th. We'll have the full report online shortly.

10:47 Moto2 - Silverstone: A slow-mo close-up of Rabat's rear tyre suggests it's wearing very, very badly indeed.

Xavier Simeon is into the pits to grab a slick-shod bike.

10:48 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Oh, and how's this for close - the top six are covered by 0.092s.

10:48 WEC - Nurburgring: With the start of the race not far away, here are the starting drivers in the LMP1 class.

#18 Porsche - Jani
#17 Porsche - Bernhard
#8 Audi - Duval
#7 Audi - Fassler
#1 Toyota - Nakajima
#2 Toyota - Conway
#12 Rebellion - Heidfeld
#13 Rebellion - Imperatori
#4 CLM - Kaffer

#18 Porsche 919, Marc Lieb, Neel Jani, Romain Dumas, WEC Nurburgring 2015

10:49 Moto2 - Silverstone: Slick-man Alt does the best lap of the race, a 2m18s - 2s quicker even than runaway leader Zarco. Seven of the 18 laps left.

10:51 Moto2 - Silverstone: Alt is a lap down after that bike swap, but he's hacking through the big second-place battle with ease to unlap himself.

That's going to give the struggling wet runners food for thought.

10:53 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco's lead is now 8s, with Rabat still somehow fending off Rins, Marquez and Folger for second. Luthi has fallen away and is set to lose sixth to Lowes at any moment.

10:54 Moto2 - Silverstone: Rins is through on Rabat for second with five laps left. Alt is now lapping 3.5s quicker than the leaders but still has to un-lap himself from Zarco.

10:54 WEC - Nurburgring: In LMP2, the KCMG ORECA that won its class at Le Mans is on pole. Here's the starting drivers:

#10 ORECA - Tandy
#26 Ligier - Bird
#36 ORECA - Panciatici
#28 Ligier - Derani
#43 Morgan - Webb
#42 Gibson - Kane
#30 Ligier - Dalziel
#31 Ligier - Van Overbeek

10:56 WEC - Nurburgring: In GTE Pro, the AF Corse Ferrari team is one-two on the grid. Starting drivers:

#51 Ferrari - Bruni
#71 Ferrari - Calado
#95 Aston Martin - Sorensen
#92 Porsche - Makowiecki
#91 Porsche - Christensen
#99 Aston Martin - Stanaway
#97 Aston Martin - Mucke

10:57 WEC - Nurburgring: And in GTE AM, here's the line-up:

#72 Ferrari - Shaytar
#98 Aston Martin - Lamy
#77 Porsche - Long
#83 Ferrari - Collard
#88 Porsche - Bamber
#50 Chevrolet - Ruberti
#6 Aston Martin - Castellacci

10:58 Moto2 - Silverstone: Although Alt is 5s quicker than the leaders, he's only just unlapped himself from Zarco and there are only three laps left, with no sign of the leaders changing tyres.

But it's Rins who could be springing a surprise here - he's 2.2s quicker than leader Zarco on that lap and the gap is down to 4.4s with three laps left.

Rabat and Marquez are catching too, has Zarco taken too much out of his tyres?

11:00 WEC - Nurburgring: The race gets underway, with Jani holding the lead from Bernhard into the first corner.

11:00 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco notes his pitboard and picks up his pace, actually adding a tenth to his lead over Rins there. With two laps left and a 4.4s cushion, it's looking good.

11:02 Moto2 - Silverstone: Rabat runs wide and loses third to team-mate Marquez, but grabs it back a few corners later. Confusing things for the Marc VDS pair, Simeon is unlapping himself on them with his slicks.

11:03 WEC - Nurburgring: At the end of the first lap, Jani leads from Bernhard, Duval, Fassler, Nakajim and Conway - so it's a Porsche-Audi-Toyota formation up front. Tandy holds the LMP2 lead for KCMG, Bruni leads GTE Pro and Long heads GTE Am.

11:03 Moto2 - Silverstone: Onto the final lap, Zarco has a 4.2s lead over Rins, who is 2s clear of the side-by-side Marc VDS team-mates.

11:05 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco comes down a back straight littered with marbles from crumbling wet tyres, another win and an even bigger points lead are in sight.

11:05 WEC - Nurburgring: The Toyotas, as expected, can't keep pace with the Porsches and the Audis. Jani's lead up front after three laps over Bernhard is three seconds.

11:06 It's close up front in LMP2, with Tandy in the KCGM ORECA under pressure from Bird in the Ligier

11:06 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco wins the Silverstone Moto2 race by 3.4s over Rins.

Rabat fends off Marquez and Folger for the final podium spot, but poleman and home favourite Lowes has to settle for sixth.

11:07 Moto2 - Silverstone: Zarco collects a handy French flag from the crowd but skips his usual celebratory backflip. Bit of a danger of a rough landing on this wet grass.

11:08 WEC - Nurburgring: The third-placed GTE Pro #92 Porsche driven by Makowiecki has been hit with a drive-through penalty for a jump start.

11:09 Moto2 - Silverstone: And despite being 5s per lap quicker than the leaders and 10s better than the midfield, slick runners Alt and Simeon have to settle for 24th and 25th. Too much ground to make up.

11:10 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Here is MITCHELL ADAM's report of that qualifying session, as Mike Rockenfeller takes pole position for Audi:

Moscow DTM: Audi's Mike Rockenfeller on pole in Sunday qualifying

Mike Rockenfeller, Audi, Moscow DTM 2015

11:10 WEC - Nurburgring: Light contact between the #97 Aston Martin of Mucke and the #99 Aston of Stanaway as the latter makes a move for sixth in GTE Pro. Mucke has also lost a place to the GTE Pro-leading Porsche of Long.

11:11 WEC - Nurburgring: Tandy has seen off the challenge from bird for the lead in LMP2 for now - he's now three seconds up the road.

11:11 Moto2 - Silverstone: And now Zarco finds some nice stable gravel to do his backflip off the tyre wall. Job done.

Lowes parks up next to Zarco too, but looks like he's just lobbing some souvenirs - his gloves and boots - to the fans rather than doing any gymnastics.

In parc ferme, Rabat is very proudly indicating to the Marc VDS crew just how little rubber he had left on his tyres.

11:12 WEC - Nurburgring: Bamber spins from second down to last in GTE Am in the #88 Porsche.

11:13 WEC - Nurburgring: Derani passes Panciatici for third in LMP2.

11:14 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani's lead over Porsche team-mate Bernhard is three seconds. The #8 Audi of Duval is third, a further two seconds back and just ahead of the sister car of Fassler. The best Toyota, the #1 car of Nakajima, is now almost 15 seconds off the lead.

11:15 WEC - Nurburgring: The #13 Rebellion of Imperatori has yet to join the race.

11:16 WEC - Nurburgring: Trouble for the GTE Pro-leading AF Corse Ferrari. With Bruni at the wheel, it has ground to a halt.

11:16 WEC - Nurburgring: That promotes the sister Ferrari of Calado to the lead of GTE Pro.

11:17 WEC - Nurburgring: A full-course yellow has been thrown because of Bruni stopping on the track.

11:17 While the Nurburgring World Endurance Championship race is now underway, the next action from Silverstone is the main event, the MotoGP race in just under 45 minutes.

The second Moscow Raceway DTM race of the weekend is two hours away.

11:18 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani's advantage has suddenly gone up from four to 14 seconds under Full Course Yellows.

11:20 MotoGP - Silverstone: Silverstone isn't really in Northamptonshire this weekend, it's in Wales.

The Circuit of Wales has the contract to stage Britain's MotoGP round for the next five years. The only stumbling block is that the circuit doesn't exist yet (though there's been progress towards that this weekend).

After an initial deal with Donington Park fell through, the CofW came to an arrangement with Silverstone instead, but it's the Welsh crew ostensibly in charge here this weekend, hence the odd sight of a lot of Circuit of Wales gear on the officials, security personnel and 'Racemakers' offering helpful advice to spectators.

Expect a similar arrangment for 2016 at least too. Construction in Wales isn't likely to begin until this October.

11:21 WEC - Nurburgring: The #71 Ferrari, which had just taken the GTE Pro lead, capitalises on the full-course yellow to pit for a splash of fuel

Calado Rigon AF Corse Ferrari, Nurburgring WEC 2015

11:22 WEC - Nurburgring: Things have equaled themselves out a bit now the race is green again - Jani is 8s up on Bernhard, double the advantage he had before the yellows.

11:22 WEC - Nurburgring: Racing is back underway.

11:24 WEC - Nurburgring: Here's how things stand up front:

1 #18 Porsche (Jani)
2 #17 Porsche (Bernhard), +10.279s
3 #8 Audi (Duval), +10.741s
4 #7 Audi (Fassler), +11.160s
5 #1 Toyota (Nakajima), +26.170s
6 #2 Toyota (Conway), +33.204s

11:26 WEC - Nurburgring: The #51 Ferrari briefly rejoined, but had to stop on track again briefly before making its way back to the pits.

11:27 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani is continuing to edge away in the leading #18 Porsche. He's now over 15 seconds ahead of team-mate Bernhard.

11:28 WEC - Nurburgring: In GTE Pro, the #91 Porsche of Christensen leads from the #99 Aston Martin of Stanaway. But the #71 Ferari of Calado is third having taken a splash of fuel under the full-course yellow.

11:32 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi has a rival in the showbiz stakes in the pitlane (and indeed the Yamaha garage) right now: actor Brad Pitt is here today, part of the launch celebrations for the new MotoGP film Hitting the Apex, which he narrated.

11:32 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani's lead is now 21 seconds over Bernhard.

11:33 MotoGP - Silverstone: For the past two years this race has been an absolutely outstanding close-fought dice between Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez. Lorenzo won in 2013 (when Marquez was hampered by dislocating his shoulder in a nasty warm-up crash), Marquez last year (pictured below).

When asked what they'd learned from those battles in yesterday's press conference, Marquez simply beamed (as usual), turned to Lorenzo and said "so Jorge, what have you learned?"

Lorenzo just grinned back, but later added that there wasn't a lot you could learn here - it's hard to take a sufficiently defensive line in the crucial places because you compromise your corner exit speed too much and just create a chance at the next turn instead.

Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo, 2014 MotoGP Silverstone race

11:34 WEC - Nurburgring: Kane holds fifth in LMP2 for Strakka and is pressuring Panciatici in the Signatech Alpine ORECA. This is the Strakka team's first race with a Gibson chassis after dropping the Strakka Dome it used previously this year.

11:35 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard in second is under pressure from the two Audis of Duval and Fassler. Meanwhile, Jani's lead is now 27 seconds.

11:36 WEC - Nurburgring: The #51 Ferrari heads back out of the pit but any chance of a good GTE Pro result has gone.

11:39 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard is told over the radio that the #17 Porsche will be brought in early.

11:39 MotoGP - Silverstone: This is one of Lorenzo's favourite tracks, and until yesterday lunchtime it looked like he'd be running away with the race.

Then in practice four, Marquez burst to the front - lapping 0.8s quicker than everyone else. Indeed every single one of his flying laps was faster than anyone else could manage.

He then opened Q2 with a new lap record, improved it by three tenths at the second attempt, and reckoned he could've gone faster still (into the 1m59s) had he not missed a gear.

Was Lorenzo worried? Not really. He put his lack of practice four speed down to a set-up experiment that didn't work and focusing on running on old tyres, and felt he was close enough in qualifying given that Marquez and Honda have a habit of being "explosive on a single lap".

11:39 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard complains of understeer and is told that he has a damaged splitter. Not clear what the cause of that is, but it would explain why he's struggling for pace in second place.

11:42 MotoGP - Silverstone: While the four-wheeled motorsport world has been mourning Justin Wilson this week, there's been sadness in the motorcycle racing community too.

After the warm-ups, riders gathered in the pitlane for a minute's silence in memory of Jonas Hahle, a 14-year-old killed in an ADAC Junior Cup race at Oschersleben in Germany last weekend, and Joan Garriga, an early 1990s 500cc frontrunner who died in a road accident in Barcelona this week.

11:43 WEC - Nurburgring: There's a frantic battle for second in GTE Am, with Shaytar, Lamy, Ruberti, Collard and Castellacci all together.

11:44 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard brings the second-placed #17 Porsche into the pits. The #7 Audi of Fassler also comes in.

11:45 MotoGP - Silverstone: It's been a typically stealthy start to the weekend for Valentino Rossi. Not massively happy with the Yamaha on Friday, he made progress yesterday and was satisfied enough with fourth on the grid given his race pace and comfort on older tyres, though he suspects his fight will be with Dani Pedrosa for third rather then Lorenzo and Marquez for victory.

11:45 WEC - Nurburgring: Webber is taking over from Bernhard. The nose is taken off the #17 Porsche with the replacement bolted on. The #7 Audi has jumped ahead.

11:45 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Gary Paffett will start seventh this afternoon, where he finished yesterday after a strong run from a lowly 20th on the grid.

“I’ve had a few races where I’ve started P20 and finished P16 and it’s a pretty terrible day,” the Mercedes driver told AUTOSPORT on Saturday evening.

“Today, I knew we hadn’t gotten everything out of it in qualifying.

“We tried something on Friday and it didn’t quite work. I wasn’t really happy with the set-up in qualifying, and also I didn’t get the most out of it, I didn’t improve on the second run.

“So starting P20, we knew we could go forward, but with this field as close as it always is, I was hoping for points but not expecting them.

“As the race panned out, I had a good start, stayed out of the accidents at Turn 1 and 2, and just worked my way through from there.

“I was P17 at the first safety car, by the second safety car I was up to P11 and then I had great fun.”

11:47 MotoGP - Silverstone: Bradley Smith set some extraordinary times in Friday practice, but didn't expect to be able to replicate his top-three form on Saturday, admitting that his Tech 3 Yamaha hits a "limit" that the factory bikes do not. He declined to go into too much detail, but suffice to say that both team-mate Pol Espargaro and works men Rossi and Lorenzo are allowed more to play with than Smith.

He starts sixth, just behind Espargaro, who burst into contention with his top-five qualifying slot having been working with the electronics and traction control settings to find more smoothness in his riding, which he didn't think would be possible through a style adjustment or the mechanical set-up.

11:47 WEC - Nurburgring: Lamy passes Shaytar for second in GTE Am with a few buts of contact - and both cars taking liberties with track limits.

11:47 MotoGP - Silverstone: Don't try to second-guess the weather today, it's one for judging your tyres based on what's falling out of the sky or on the asphalt at that moment.

Forecasts have suggested everything from heavy rain to niggly rain to no rain, and as usual Silverstone is windy enough to switch between those situations pretty quickly.

It was certainly damp and drizzly for the warm-up this morning, where Valentino Rossi was a popular pacesetter, but the likes of Danilo Petrucci and Cal Crutchlow showed great pace.

It shouldn't get as bad as conditions for the event's BT Sport-organised launch in London on Wednesday, when Jorge Lorenzo and the British riders put a brave face on some pretty ferocious downpours in central London.

Right now: the track is dry. The skies are very cloudy. There's definitely specks of drizzle in the air. It's colder than it was in all the practice sessions. We predict that it's impossible to predict.

11:49 WEC - Nurburgring: The second and third-placed LMP2 machines of Bird and Derani are both in the pits.

11:49 MotoGP - Silverstone: Smith was one of several riders pleased that Ducati had a rough qualifying session, as he feels the Desmosedici - very quick in a straight line - is almost impossible to pass if it gets in front of a Yamaha here. Andrea Iannone rued a mistake and starts ninth, Andrea Dovizioso was disrupted by clutch problems in final practice and is 12th.

Iannone Ducati Silverstone MotoGP 2015

11:50 WEC - Nurburgring: The #4 CLM makes its first pit-stop. It's in seventh overall.

11:51 WEC - Nurburgring: The LMP2 midfield has all pitted together. Panciatici in the #36 ORECA, Kane in the #42 Gibson and Webb in the #43 Morgan are all in. Webb is turned around quickest by the Morand team and jumps two positions.

11:52 WEC- Nurburgring: Fassler's early stop - coincidently at the same time as Bernhard's - was the result of a slow puncture.

11:52 MotoGP - Silverstone: Scott Redding qualified seventh on the Marc VDS Honda, one of his best starting spots of the season. But he emphasised that wouldn't sway his decision about where to go for 2016 - and this morning news broke that he was off to Pramac Ducati.

While Redding's relationship with Marc VDS - which nearly took him to the 2013 Moto2 title - is great, his relationship with the factory-spec Honda is less happy. He's been on Ducati's radar since a test in 2012 and will see how he gets on with the Desmosedici next season instead.

11:53 WEC - Nurburgring: The #8 Audi pits from second place. Duval stays in the car and takes fuel and tyres.

11:53 MotoGP - Silverstone: The drizzle is getting heavier...

11:53 WEC - Nurburgring: Duval rejoins in fourth place again, behind the #7 Audi of Fassler and Webber's Porsche.

11:54 WEC - Nurburgring: The LMP2-leading KCMG ORECA pits. Tandy stays aboard and just takes fuel.

11:56 WEC - Nurburgring: And the leading #18 Porsche comes in for fuel and tyres. Jani jumps out and Lieb takes over, rejoining in the de facto lead.

11:56 WEC - Nurburgring: Both Toyotas have come into the pits having momentarily run first and second thanks to the pit-stop sequence. Wurz takes over the #2 car from Conway and Nakajima jumps out of the #1 car with Davidson taking over.

11:57 MotoGP - Silverstone: Uniform tyre choice of soft fronts and medium rears for the frontrunners, but will those be ditched for the wet-shod bikes before too long?

11:57 WEC - Nurburgring: The leading Porsche's pitstop was the quickest of the P1s. A time of 1m08s put it at least 4s ahead of everyone else

11:59 MotoGP - Silverstone: Off on the warm-up lap, still so much rubber debris from the Moto2 field's shredding Dunlop wets littering the track.

Rain is now heavier and heavier.

11:59 MotoGP - Silverstone: Lots of activity in the pitlane as teams prepare the wet-spec spare bikes. Will we see everyone dive in?

12:00 WEC - Nurburgring: So after the first round of pitstops in LMP1, here's the order:

1 #18 Porsche (Lieb)
2 #7 Audi (Fassler)
3 #17 Porsche (Webber)
4 #8 Audi (Duval)
5 #1 Toyota (Davidson)
6 #2 Toyota (Wurz)

#18 Porsche 919, Marc Lieb, Neel Jani, Romain Dumas, WEC Nurburgring 2015

12:00 MotoGP - Silverstone: Incredibly cautious warm-up lap as riders try not to risk a slicks-on-damp-track tumble.

12:01 WEC - Nurburgring: Rebellion has had a disastrous race, the #12 car has just ground to a halt and Heidfeld has jumped out and over the barrier. The sister machine has managed a grand total of one lap.

12:02 MotoGP - Silverstone: Everyone is shooting into the pitlane at the end of the warm-up lap, we're going to have an empty grid and a pit exit queue.

12:02 WEC - Nurburgring: A slow-zone has been called to cover the recovery of the Rebellion.

12:02 MotoGP - Silverstone: The start is being aborted.

12:04 Here's the order in LMP2:

1 #47 ORECA (Tandy)
2 #26 Ligier (Bird)
3 #28 Ligier (Derani)
4 #43 Morgan (Webb)
5 #42 Gibson (Kane)
6 #30 Ligier (Dalziel)
7 #36 ORECA (Panciatici)
8 #31 Ligier (Van Overbeek)

12:04 WEC - Nurburgring: The GTE Pro leader has capitalised on the slow zone to pit. Christensen brings the #91 Porsche in.

12:05 MotoGP - Silverstone: That was going to be messy. When something similar happened at the Sachsenring in 2014, the majority pitted and we had a wild start from the pitlane exit with a massive group of bikes trying to get out side by side.

The rules have been adjusted since then to try to prevent such chaos and the riders were expecting to line up one by one at the pit exit in the order in which they arrived (Bradley Smith had got himself 'pole').

But race direction have wisely decided to avoid that and called the start off. The start is being delayed, the pitlane will reopen at 1.10pm UK (five minutes) then the race start will be 1.25pm.

What will the weather be doing then...?

12:06 WEC - Nurburgring: Kane ploughs into the gravel at the final corner in the #42 Gibson. That drops him to seventh in LMP2.

12:07 WEC - Nurburgring: Up front, Lieb's lead over Fassler's Audi is now 39 seconds. Webber is on the tail of the second-placed Audi in the #17 Porsche.

12:09 WEC - Nurburgring: Long jumps out of the GTE Am-leading Porsche and hands over to Dempsey.

Dempsey Long Seefried Porsche Nurburgring WEC 2015

12:11 MotoGP - Silverstone: The bikes leave the pitlane for another sighting lap on what is now looking like a pretty wet track.

12:14 WEC - Nurburgring: The #91 Porsche is back ahead in GTE Pro with Lietz at the wheel after the pitstop sequence is complete. The Porsches and Astons managed an hour on the fuel, suggesting this isn't going to be anything other than a five-stop race.

12:15 WEC - Nurburgring: Webber has pulled five seconds on Fassler, underlining the Porsche's superiority here.

12:16 MotoGP - Silverstone: Ten minutes until the second attempt at the start. Tyre choice right now looks clear: definitely wet. Will that still be the case in just under an hour when we reach the 20th and final lap...?

This is the start order:

1 Marquez
2 Lorenzo
3 Pedrosa
4 Rossi
5 P Espargaro
6 Smith
7 Redding
8 Crutchlow
9 Iannone
10 A Espargaro
11 Hernandez
12 Dovizioso

12:17 WEC - Nurburgring: With Webber having passed Fassler for second place, he's 42.6 seconds off leader Lieb.

12:18 WEC - Nurburgring: Bird has nibbled into Tandy's advantage at the front of LMP2, suggesting that the Ligier is better on its tyres than the ORECA.

12:20 MotoGP - Silverstone: Up to now, the rain level had been such that you had to squint out of the window to be absolutely sure it was definitely coming down and popping outside was the best bet. It's now very visibly falling - we're upgrading it from drizzle to proper rain.

12:21 MotoGP - Silverstone: This was the order in the wet warm-up, incidentally:

1 Rossi
2 Petrucci
3 Marquez
4 Crutchlow
5 Lorenzo
6 Dovizioso
7 Smith
8 Hernandez
9 Iannone
10 P Espargaro
11 Pedrosa
12 A Espargaro
13 Bradl
14 Miller
15 Hayden

12:22 WEC - Nurburgring: Lietz has a lead of 17.4s in GTE Pro in the #91 Porsche. Rigon is second in the #17 Ferrari.

12:23 MotoGP - Silverstone: Take two, here we go on the warm-up lap again.

12:23 WEC - Nurburgring: Bamber pits in the #88 Porsche that leads GTE Am. Paul Dalla Lana takes the class lead in the #98 Aston Martin. Al Qubaisi takes over the Porsche.

12:25 WEC - Nurburgring: Webber has got the lead to team-mate Lieb down to under 40s - the Aussie is regularly putting in 1m39s laps.

12:26 MotoGP - Silverstone: Lorenzo shoots into the lead as they head into Copse.

12:27 WEC - Nurburgring: The Toyotas are currently in fifth and sixth and lapped in the mid-to-high 1m42s bracket last time round.

12:27 MotoGP - Silverstone: But Marquez is right on Lorenzo and challenging him into Becketts.

12:27 WEC - Nurburging: That diminishing gap between Tandy and Bird at the front of P2 is now down to 11s.

12:28 MotoGP - Silverstone: Great stuff from Pol Espargaro, he's third ahead of Rossi and now past Marquez into second by Vale.

Rossi and Pedrosa complete the top five.

12:28 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi takes third from Marquez, then second from Espargaro, with Marquez following him through - and then diving past the Yamaha for second again.

Lorenzo has a small lead into Brooklands.

Miller is flying - he's into the top 10.

12:29 MotoGP - Silvertone: Lorenzo leads from Marquez as they complete lap one, but Rossi takes Marquez for second again at Copse.

12:30 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi goes for the lead into Stowe but Lorenzo fends him off.

12:30 MotoGP - Silverstone: Lorenzo leads Rossi, Marquez, Pol Espargaro, PEdrosa, Crutchlow, Miller, Smith, Petrucci and Dovizioso,

12:30 WEC - Nurburgring: The leader has been given a 5s stop-go for the technical infringement.

12:31 MotoGP - SIlverstone: Rossi slices past Lorenzo into the lead, and Marquez follows him to take second. Huge, huge cheers as Rossi leads into the complex, but Marquez is on his tail.

12:31 MotoGP - Silverstone: Crutchlow is through to fourth, his LCR team-mate Miller is sixth behind Pol Espargaro.

12:32 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi is holding Marquez at bay, they're getting away from Lorenzo slightly - and now Crutchlow is taking third from Lorenzo.

12:32 WEC - Nurburging: The penalty is the result of going over its permitted fuel allocation.

12:33 MotoGP - SIlverstone: Miller slides into Crutchlow at Vale and takes both as they try to attack Lorenzo for third.

12:33 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Formula 3 European Championship leader Antonio Giovinazzi is about 56 minutes away from his second DTM race.

He’ll line up 16th, after qualifying just 0.373 seconds off pole.

The Italian is standing in for Timo Scheider at Audi, with Scheider suspended as part of further punishments handed down for the ‘push him out’ row.

Giovinazzi spent a day in Audi DTM machinery at Jerez late last year and completed another half-day at Lausitzring in June.

He finished 19th yesterday, the last of the runners, and said the importance of getting heat into tyres and brakes during safety car periods was an eye opener.

“It was a really hard race,” he said.

“I had a really good start, and it’s so different from Formula 3 with those cars much smaller - the car is really big here, it’s difficult to watch in the mirror and everything.

“The two safety cars didn’t help me, because you need a good warm-up with the braking and the tyres, and at the restart I was not always really fast.

“I think the last few laps were not too bad, but the race was already gone.

“I learned something today and I hope I can put what I learned today into the race on Sunday.”

12:33 MotoGP - Silverstone: Either LCR man was a podium bet there, but now they're both scrabbling to get out of the gravel.

12:34 MotoGP - Silverstone: Up front, Rossi leads by three tenths of a second over Marquez, with Lorenzo 2s back in third.

Wet ace Petrucci is going as well as expected, he's up to sixth on the Pramac Ducati.

12:35 MotoGP - Silverstone: Crutchlow made it back to the pits, he's swapped bikes and is going back out solidly last. Miller retired at the scene.

12:35 WEC - Nurburging: Lieb just makes it out ahead of the pits ahead of Webber.

12:36 MotoGP - Silverstone: An excursion for Pol Espargaro, he's dropped from fourth to ninth.

12:36 MotoGP - Silverstone: Looks like Crutchlow has had a second crash on his spare bike. He's rejoining once again.

12:37 MotoGP - Silverstone: Pedrosa is now up to fourth and he's putting pressure on pre-race championship leader Lorenzo.

12:38 MotoGP - Silverstone: We're not even a quarter of the way into this race yet. Rossi cannot escape from Marquez in the lead, Lorenzo is nearly 4s back and has Pedrosa, Petrucci, Dovizioso and Smith on his rear end.

12:40 MotoGP - Silverstone: Race direction is going to review the Crutchlow/Miller LCR intra-team collision after the race. The replay we've just seen does suggest Miller was a long, long way behind when he made that move.

12:42 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi still leads Marquez by two tenths of a second.

Lorenzo briefly matched their pace but is now losing time again, while still staying ahead of Pedrosa, Petrucci and Dovizioso.

Change of order in that queue though: Petrucci grabs fourth from Dovizioso.

Petrucci's team-mate Yonny Hernandez was our first retirement, by the way, crashing at the very first corner.

12:42 WEC - Nurburgring: Tandy brings the #47 LMP2-leading ORECA into the pits and hands over to Howson.

12:42 MotoGP - Silverstone: Pedrosa loses another place - Dovizioso takes him for fifth.

12:43 MotoGP - Silverstone: Petrucci is having a massive look at Lorenzo for third place as they go into Becketts.

12:44 MotoGP - Silverstone: Petrucci tries to take Lorenzo down the inside into Stowe but a wide line keeps the Yamaha ahead in third place.

12:44 WEC - Nurburgring: Webber and Fassler have stopped to hand over to Hartley and Lotterer respectively. The #17 Porsche might have made up lost ground when #18 took its penalty, but that's no good if it has to make an extra stop.

12:45 MotoGP - Silverstone: Petrucci dives inside Lorenzo into The Loop and grabs third, with Dovizioso following him through.

That's a huge favour for Rossi in the championship as Lorenzo is shoved down to fifth.

12:45 MotoGP - Silverstone: Up front, Rossi is still doing enough to keep Marquez at bay. Just 0.3s between them, 12 laps to go, rain still falling.

12:45 WEC - Nurburgring: The #26 Ligier has taken the lead in LMP2 after the #47 ORECA's stop. Rusinov is at the wheel of the Ligier.

12:47 MotoGP - Silverstone: A start replay shows Hernandez's Copse crash came after contact with Aleix Espargaro, and that the other Suzuki of Vinales ran wide to avoid it.

The Suzukis are now ninth and 16th.

12:47 WEC - Nurburgring: The Ligier gained 15s on the ORECA in the pits - must have been a problem down at KCMG.

12:48 MotoGP - Silverstone: Another place lost for Lorenzo, Pedrosa passes him and he's down to sixth, though still right with what remains a four-way battle for the final podium place, with Petrucci leading it.

12:48 MotoGP - Silverstone: After his quick trip off the road, Pol Espargaro has caught Tech 3 team-mate Smith for seventh place and they're having a massive dice.

12:49 MotoGP - Silverstone: Espargaro makes it back Smith, who'll now have to deal with the other sibling as Aleix Espargaro's Suzuki closes on him, with Redding behind.

12:49 WEC - Nurburgring: Lotterer is now at the wheel of the third-placed #7 Audi, with di Grassi now in the #8 Audi in fourth place.

12:50 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi keeps setting fastest laps in the lead, yet Marquez is only fractions slower and still shadowing his every move. The gap is just 0.130s at half distance.

12:50 WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb dives into the pits in the #18 Porsche. Dumas takes over the car, which takes fuel and tyres.

12:51 WEC - Nurburgring: Hartley takes the lead in the #17 Porsche.

12:52 MotoGP - Silverstone: Marquez looks ever more menacing behind Rossi, repeatedly ducking out of his spray without committing to a serious move yet.

12:52 WEC - Nurburgring: In LMP2, Rusinov in the #26 Ligier leads by just under nine seconds from Howson in the #47 ORECA.

12:53 MotoGP - Silverstone: Dovizioso is trying very hard to take third from the Pramac Ducati of Petrucci, with Pedrosa and Lorenzo still not far behind them.

12:53 WEC - Nurburgring: Lietz leads GTE Pro in the #91 Porsche, 23 seconds clear of Rigon in the #71 Ferrari, which is out of synch after stopping for a splash of fuel under an early full-course yellow.

12:54 MotoGP - Silverstone: A neat move in the 'new' section takes Dovizioso inside Petrucci and into third place.

12:54 MotoGP - Silverstone: Marquez crashes out!

12:55 MotoGP - Silverstone: Marquez simply lost his Honda through Copse while chasing Rossi. That hands Rossi a big lead and a huge championship opportunity.

12:56 WEC - Nurburgring: In GTE Am, Dalla Lanna leads in the #98 Aston Martin, almost 20 seconds ahead of the #88 Porsche of Al Qubaisi.

12:56 MotoGP - Silverstone: Marquez walks away unhurt after what was a pretty high-speed crash.

So Rossi now leads by 6s over a big, big battle for second between Dovizioso, Petrucci, Pedrosa and Lorenzo.

12:57 MotoGP - Silverstone: Is Lorenzo about to work his way back onto the podium? He passes Pedrosa for fourth into Copse as the Ducatis battle hard just ahead.

12:57 WEC - Nurburgring: Howson is holding the deficit to Rusinov in the P2 battle to 9s. That is significant, because this is a gold versus silver battle. The OAK Ligier's silver-rated driver - Canal - will drive later.

12:58 MotoGP - SIlverstone: Is Rossi taking things too carefully with Marquez out? Dovizioso just took 2s out of his lead, though he still has Petrucci all over him.

12:59 MotoGP - Silverstone: Petrucci dives inside Dovizioso and gets second back, holding it despite his countryman's very best efforts to repass.

That nearly opens the door for Lorenzo.

13:00 MotoGP - Silverstone: Pol Espargaro is out - he falls at Becketts when sixth.

13:01 MotoGP - Silverstone: Smith is now up to sixth, with Redding chasing him hard.

13:01 WEC - Nurburgring: A full-course yellow has been thrown.

13:01 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi's lead over Petrucci is down to 2.4s with five laps left.

13:02 WEC - Nurburgring: Looks like it's to allow some gravel that has been dragged onto the track to be swept up.

13:02 WEC - Nurburgring: And the reason is gravel on the track.

13:02 WEC - Nurburgring: Remember, a full-course yellow isn't a safety car. All drivers have to circulate at 80km/h, so gaps between cars are maintained.

13:02 MotoGP - Silverstone: Dovizioso is staying with Petrucci as they gain on Rossi. The flying Ducatis are dropping Lorenzo and Pedrosa a little.

13:03 MotoGP - Silverstone: Redding has passed Smith for sixth.

13:03 DTM - Moscow Raceway: We're about 10 minutes away from the start of the race. We mentioned Giovinazzi earlier, he'll now start 24th and last, after the engine in his Audi was changed.

13:03 MotoGP - Silverstone: Still four laps left, Rossi's lead over Petrucci and Dovizioso is just 1.6s.

13:04 MotoGP - Silverstone: Bautista has just passed Hayden to put an Aprilia in the top 10.

13:05 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Here's the order at the front of the field:

1. Rockenfeller
2. Ekstrom
3. Martin
4. Green
5. Ekstrom (dropped three places due to grid penalty)
6. Muller
7. Paffett
8. Blomqvist
9. Farfus
10. Wittmann
11. Wehrlein
12. Juncadella

13:06 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi is keeping the gap steady, 1.6s remains the distance back to Petrucci and Dovizioso as they complete lap 17 of 20.

Lorenzo is another 1.5s back but clear of Pedrosa.

13:07 WEC - Nurburgring: Racing is back underway. Here's how it stands up front:

1 #17 Porsche (Hartley)
2 #18 Porsche (Dumas)
3 #7 Audi (Lotterer)
4 #8 Audi (Di Grassi
5 #1 Toyota (Davidson)
6 #2 Toyota (Sarrazin)

13:08 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi leads over the line by 1.7s back to Petrucci, who's dropped Dovizioso, with two laps left.

Lorenzo is gaining on Dovizioso for third again.

13:08 WEC - Nurburgring: There are always winners and losers with full course yellows, the WEC's equivalent of the virtual safety car. Dumas has gained on Hartley, the gap halving from about 15s to 7s.

13:10 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Drivers are off for the formation lap. This race is one-hour-plus-one-lap in duration, with a mandatory pitstop to change tyres.

13:10 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi is just making certain of this over the final lap and a half, getting his cushion over Petrucci out to two seconds.

13:11 MotoGP - Silverstone: Onto the last lap, Rossi leads by 2.7s, Petrucci is 2.7s clear of Dovizioso too and Lorenzo is trying hard to get back on the podium.

13:13 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi wins the British Grand Prix, his first triumph at Silverstone.

13:13 MotoGP - Silverstone: Petrucci clinches a remarkable second place, Dovizioso makes it two Ducati riders on the podium and Lorenzo falls 12 points behind in the championship as he has to settle for fourth.

13:14 MotoGP - Silverstone: Behind fifth-placed Pedrosa, the top Brit is Redding in sixth, just ahead of Smith.

Iannone, Aleix Espargaro and Bautista complete the top 10.

13:14 DTM - Moscow Raceway: We're away. Cleaner start than yesterday. Kind of. Rockenfeller leads. Lots of panels rubbed and grass cut between Spengler, Green and Martin behind him. Giovinazzi ran wide at Turn 6, he'll be a long way behind the pack

13:15 WEC - Nurburgring: The #18 Porsche is being penalised again for excess fuel consumption - this time it is a 30s stop-go for a second offence.

13:17 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Here's the order:
1. Rockenfeller leads by 1.1 seconds
2. Spengler
3. Green
4. Martin
5. Ekstrom
6. Paffett
7. Muller
8. Blomqvist

Wittmann and Wehrlein are ninth and 12th at the end of the second lap.

13:19 ERC - Rally Zlin: A result just in from the world of rallying, and the European Rally Championship to be precise.

Jan Kopecky has claimed a home victory for himself and Skoda in the Czech Republic.

Fresh from his victory in the WRC2 class on Rally Germany last week, it's Kopecky's fifth triumph on the event - his first came in a Fabia WRC in 2004.

Kopecky finished up 27.3 seconds clear of compatriot and Mini driver Vaclav Pech.

Jan Kopecky, Skoda, Rally Zlin ERC 2015

13:19 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wittmann takes eighth from Blomqvist at the end of lap four. Rockenfeller leads by exactly one second, as DRS is enabled.

13:19 WEC - Nurburgring: The #18 Porsche comes into take its penalty.

13:20 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Track info suggests Giovinazzi and da Costa might've had a moment on the first lap, when the rookie went off. Stewards are investigating da Costa.

13:21 DTM - Moscow Raceway: That did not take long. Drive-through for da Costa (currently 20th), for 'forcing another driver to leave the track'. We're yet to see a replay at the track.

13:22 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wehrlein is in 12th, all over the back of Mortara's Audi, as da Costa comes in to serve his drive-through.

13:23 ERC - Rally Zlin: Championship leader Kajetan Kajetanowicz finished third, extending his lead over Irishman Craig Breen.

Breen suffered no fewer than three punctures on his Peugeot on Saturday, before recovering from 11th and seventh today.

13:23 WEC - Nurburgring: The #18 Porsche is to be penalised again - this time with a one-minute penalty.

13:24 DTM - Moscow Raceway: At the front, Rockenfeller leads by 2.1 seconds after 10 minutes. Spengler then leads a train containing Green, Martin and Ekstrom, with Paffett, Muller and Wittmann a couple of seconds further back.

13:25 WEC - Nurburgring: Howson is ahead of Rusinov in the battle for the P2 lead.

13:26 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wehrlein looked to copy his Saturday-winning move on Wittmann on Mortara, diving up the inside at Turn 13. He gets past, but can't pull it up enough to defend a Mortara switchback.

13:27 MotoGP - Silverstone: Huge noise from the stands as Rossi heads out onto the podium.

13:28 WEC - Nurburgring: Dumas is in for his latest penalty. There must be something wrong with the fuel flow meter on the Porsche, surely?

13:29 DTM - Moscow Raceway: A later dive by Wehrlein two laps later, and he makes it stick. He's up to P11. At the front, Rockenfeller leads by 2.4 seconds.

13:31 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Green pits at the end of lap 12. He's followed in by Wittmann, Farfus, Wehrlein and Mortara.

13:32 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Frustration for Wehrlein, Mortara has jumped back past in pitlane.

13:33 DTM - Moscow Raceway: It was a slower stop for Green, looked like trouble with the front right. And there could be scrutiny over his release into Farfus' path. Which slowed Wehrlein as well.

13:34 MotoGP - Silverstone: After a sensational MotoGP race, we still have ahead of us the last race of the weekend, Moto3. A highly anticipated one with home favourite and championship leader Danny Kent starting in third position.

13:34 WEC - Nurburgring: Di Grassi is now only 2s behind Audi team-mate Lotterer - remember though, he is on the fresher tyres having stopped later.

13:34 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Martin, Paffett, Muller and Wickens pit the next time around. Another 'interesting' release, this time Paffett into the lane as Muller approached.

13:36 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Spengler pits the next time around, he rejoins ahead of Martin and Green. Rockenfeller and Ekstrom still yet to pit at the front of the field.

Wickens has received a drive-through for pitlane speeding.

13:38 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Rockenfeller is 3.6s clear of Ekstrom. Spengler is the first of the drivers yet to pit, in 10th.

13:38 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wickens has served his penalty, but would appear to be under investigation again, for pitlane speeding.

13:39 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Ekstrom pits, di Resta does the same from a little further down the order.

13:39 MotoGP - Silverstone: Here is AUTOSPORT's report from MATT BEER at Silverstone of that remarkable race:

Valentino Rossi wins wet race to resurrect lead

Valentino Rossi, Silverstone MotoGP 2015

13:40 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard takes over the leading Porsche, seemingly on the way to a first WEC victory together with Webber and Hartley. Audi don't have the pace to beat them, so this is their race to lose.

13:40 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Ekstrom rejoins behind Spengler and Martin, but ahead of Green. Net fourth place.

13:41 DTM - Moscow Raceway: In comes Rockenfeller. Clean stop, he retains the effective race lead, but it looks like Spengler is closer than before these stops.

Yet to pit, Juncadella is the track leader, ahead of Molina, Tambay, Gotz and Auer.

13:42 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Auer is actually sixth on the road, between Rockenfeller and Spengler.

Tomczyk, meanwhile, retires, as replays show Paffett and Wittmann getting up close and personal down the front straight, with Paffett taking what is effectively sixth place.

13:43 MotoGP - Silverstone: Prior to that performance just now, Petrucci had never finished higher than eighth in MotoGP. But he's always been nifty in the wet, as several star practice times on the far-from-competitive bikes he's been saddled with up to 2015 always showed.

13:44 WEC - Nurburgring: Howson stays in front in P2 after the latest round of pitstops. This time KCMG gain some time on OAK. His lead over Rusinov is now up to 6s.

13:45 Moto3 - Silverstone: The Moto3 riders are out on the starting grid, preparing themselves for the race ahead. The race starts later than planned because of delays in the MotoGP race.

13:45 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Mortara has passed Muller for what's currently 12th. Behind them, Blomqvist is keeping Wehrlein at bay.

Molina and Tambay have stopped, just Juncadella and Auer yet to do so, with 27 minutes remaining.

13:46 Moto3 - Silverstone: Danny Kent, who has been mulling MotoGP offers for 2016 including the Pramac seat Redding has now grabbed, told AUTOSPORT earlier this week that he's been too cautious and too conscious of his points lead of late, and it's time to get back to riding in a way that will make rivals panic if he's on their tail.

His championship lead over Enea Bastianini has come down from 66 to 44 points over the last two rounds, but prior to that he'd only been off the podium once all season and was doing crazy things like winning Moto3 races by 10 seconds.

Kent looked good for pole here until last-gasp laps from Jorge Navarro and Karel Hanika pushed him back to third. It's not been a straightforward weekend - he missed nearly all of first practice after a impact from a stone caused an oil leak, and he had a fall at The Loop in the damp warm-up.

13:46 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Spengler has cleared Auer, but the time spent behind the Mercedes rookie has let Rockenfeller skip away.

Behind Auer now, Martin is under pressure from Ekstrom and Green.

13:48 Moto3 - Silverstone: Five minutes until the start of the race. The rain continues to fall as the mechanics start to move back to the garages.

Jorge Navarro lines up in pole position after he secured his first career pole yesterday. He is joined by Karel Hanika and home favourite Danny Kent on the first row.

Fellow Brit, John McPhee starts 12th after an impressive performance in front of the home crowd.

13:48 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Rockenfeller is now 4.2s ahead of Spengler. More than comfortable, that margin.

Further back, Wehrlein is up to 11th - which will become 10th when Auer pits - after passing Blomqvist at the final corner. Juncadella has now made his stop.

Mike Rockenfeller, Audi, Moscow DTM 2015

13:48 WEC - Nurburgring: While Christensen has a 25-second advantage in GTE Pro, there is a fierce battle for second going on. Calado, in the #71 Ferrari, is working hard to keep Makowiecki's #92 Porsche behind.

13:49 WEC - Nurburgring: Ried is off in the #88 GTE Am Porsche

13:49 Moto3 - Silverstone: Riders are out on their warm-up lap.

13:49 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Nice shot of Ekstrom casually scratching his face on the run down to Turn 7.

13:50 WEC - Nurburgring: The CLM's rear wing has just fallen off on the main straight.

13:52 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Martin gets past Auer, and desperate not to lose any more time, Ekstrom and Green force past at Turn 13.

13:52 WEC - Nurburgring: Calado is crawling back to the pits with some rear-end damage.

13:53 WEC - Nurburgring: Replays show that Makowiecki clipped the back of Calado's Ferrari as the full-course yellow was deployed.

13:53 WEC - Nurburgring: There was contact between Makowiecki and Calado as the FCY boards were shown.

13:53 Moto3 - Silverstone: Lights out at Silverstone for Moto3, will we have a Brit on the top step at the end of 17 laps?

13:54 DTM - Moscow Raceway: With Auer accounted for by the top end of the field, he pits. Here's the order at the top, with gaps relative to the lead. 20 minutes to go.
1. Rockenfeller
2. Spengler +4.3s
3. Martin +7.6s
4. Ekstrom +8.4s
5. Green +9.1s
6. Paffett +12.4s
7. Wittmann +13.0s
8. Mortara +14.7s

13:54 Moto3 - Silverstone: Karel Hanika took the lead around the outside of Navarro at Copse but the pair collided on the exit of Turn 2

13:55 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wehrlein is 10th, 1.2s behind Mullet ahead of him. As it stands, he'll relinquish the championship lead again to Ekstrom, and leave Russia three points behind.

13:55 Moto3 - Silverstone: Kent manages to stay clear of the colliding pair

13:56 Moto3 - Silverstone: Vinales up out front ahead of Kent

13:56 Moto3 - Silverstone: Jorge Martin goes down in the same place at Navarro and Hanika

13:58 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Tomczyk, who retired earlier has just described his weekend as one of his worst in the DTM, with 'crap' results. He said he's "happy that it's over", and we can't blame him.

13:58 Moto3 - Silverstone: Cautious lap times from the riders, Vinales got a 5.14.906 last time around

13:58 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Ekstrom is hounding Martin for the final spot on the podium, and Green is keeping them company, with 15 minutes to go.

13:59 Moto3 - Silverstone: Brad Binder goes down at Turn 3, after attempting to go down the inside of Romano Fenati

14:01 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Wehrlein is now right behind Muller and Mortara. He's got 11 minutes left to try to snatch some more points.

14:02 Moto3 - Silverstone:Turn 3 has claimed another rider as race leader Vinales goes down

14:02 WEC - Nurburgring: The race is back underway, with Pilet and Rigon picking up where Makowiecki and Calado left off in GTE Pro.

14:03 WEC - Nurburgring: Yacaman passes team-mate Rusinov to take second place in LMP2 behid the KCMG ORECA.

14:04 Moto3 - Silverstone: Danny Kent leads the British Moto3 ahead of Kornfeil and Fenati

14:05 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard's lead in the #17 Porsche has been shaved down to 56 seconds over the #7 Audi of Lotterer. Jarvis is third in the #8 Audi ahead of the #18 Porsche of Jani.

14:05 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Ekstrom's pressure pays off. He sneaks past Martin at the final corner to take third with eight minutes remaining.

14:06 Moto3 - Silverstone: Niccolo Antonelli, race winner from last time out makes up two places on the inside of Bagnaia and Quartararo

14:07 Moto3 - Silverstone: Danny Kent is well on his way to take home his first home win, he leads by more than 7 seconds and will look to extend his championship lead

14:07 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi on his win:

"Silverstone is already a difficult track with good conditions, and with the "wet, it's more.

"This morning when I woke up and saw the rain, I didn't know if it was good news or not. We didn't have a lot of data from the season on the wet.

"But the work of my team made the diffrence and my Yamaha was fantastic. From the first lap in the warm-up we found a good balance and I could push."

He says that the potential conditions of drizzle on a mostly dry track had been a scary prospect, so he was relieved when the rain increased and the start was delayed.

He'd also been expecting a battle to the last lap with Marquez, so his rival's crash came as a relief.

14:09 Moto3 - Silverstone: Maria Herrera is off track after what was a good start for the Spaniard at her first Silverstone grand prix

14:10 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Rockenfeller is still in control with three minutes remaining, he leads Spengler by five seconds. Green still can't find a way past Martin.

14:11 Moto3 - Silverstone: Herrera has restarted her race, as Vinales parks his in the garage, such a shame for the Spaniard who could have walked away with a podium at least if not a win

14:11 WEC - Nurburgring: The #71 Ferrari is back in thanks to a left-rear puncture - has also removed some of the bodywork that was spoiling the tyre.

14:11 MotoGP - Silverstone: Petrucci is now charming the Silverstone media with his description of a "dream" run to second place for Pramac:

"It was incredible. I was hoping for the rain because yesterday went so badly and starting from P18 was so difficult.

"When I tried to push and push again, I was behind Pedrosa and Lorenzo. I've never seen tat situation, only on the Playstation. So what should I do?

"It was so difficult to pass them, especially because it was Lorenzo and Pedrosa.

"When I was third, I had the fear about crashing. But then Dovi came. Marquez crashed, and then Valentino was closer and closer. I said 'try to follow Valentino' but it was difficult. I was scared it was too fast because it's not usual to gain on Valentino.

"With two laps to go I saw I'd created a little bit of gap to Dovi. At the last corner I started laughing and thought 'now I'm going to wake up in bed...'"

14:11 Moto3 - Silverstone: Karel Hanika is down once more at Turn 8, the wet weather is causing havoc for the riders

14:12 MotoGP - Silverstone: Were you scared of crashing into Lorenzo, Petrucci is asked. "I was scared for the reaction after the race..." he replies.

14:13 Moto3 - Silverstone: Ten laps to go, as Locatelli and Antonelli battle for fourth position.

14:14 MotoGP - Silverstone: We're now at the stage in the press conference where Dovizioso is trying to remember to answer the question while also watching Moto3 on the big screen.

He jokes that following Petrucci is scary because his friend and compatriot's braking style and position on the bike are so aggressive.

14:14 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Last lap for Rockenfeller.

14:14 Moto3 - Silverstone: Romano Fenati was riding in third but loses the front end at Turn 7

14:16 DTM - Moscow Raceway: Rockenfeller wins, his first DTM victory since the series' first visit to Russia in August 2013.

Spengler is second, ahead of Ekstrom, Martin, Green, Paffett and Wittmann. Then it's Mortara, Muller and Wehrlein in 10th, taking the final championship point.

14:17 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi admits he underestimated how fast Petrucci had been going behind Marquez, so when the Honda crashed the sudden drop in his lead from 6s to 3s caught him off guard.

"My mistake was that I relaxed for one lap because I thought I had more advantage."

But 'The Doctor' adds that as the race went on he was aware that his friend Petrucci probably wouldn't want to jeopardise his breakthrough podium with a wild bid for victory so managed to relax a bit.

14:17 Moto3 - Silverstone: Brad Binder is the ninth rider to retire from this Moto3 race

14:17 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi was busily answering a question in the press conference when his VR46 rider Fenati shunted away a Moto3 podium just then so he didn't spot it happening. He's now looked back at the screen and has probably noticed.

14:18 WEC - Nurburgring: Bernhard is doing just enough to keep his advantage over Lotterer just above the one-minute mark. Lotterer, meanwhile, is edging away form Jarvis in the sister Audi and is now 13s clear.

#17 Porsche, Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, Nurburgring WEC 2015

14:19 Moto3 - Silverstone: Kent still leads, with a 10 seconds gap to Kornfeil.

His nearest championship rival, Enea Bastianini is in seventh place and remains behind Quartararo

14:19 MotoGP - Silverstone: Rossi just mimed Lorenzo's psychological strength by grinning and punching the table. That means 'my team-mate is bloody tough'.

14:20 Moto3 - Silverstone: The battle for third could be the one to watch as Bagnaia just his quickest lap so far, as he hunts down Antonelli in third

14:21 MotoGP - Silverstone: Does Petrucci's older-spec Pramac Ducati beating Dovizioso's factory example mean the 2015 Desmosedici is worse in the wet? Dovizioso thinks Petrucci's wet skill was the bigger factor today.

14:21 WEC - Nurburgring: Yacaman in the second G-Drive Ligier is closing on Howson in the KCMG ORECA, but silver driver Gonzalez is still to come.

14:21 WEC - Nurburgring: The #98 Aston Martin of Lauda that leads GTE Am is in the pits for fuel and tyres. Lamy takes over.

14:22 Moto3 - Silverstone: Bagnaia and Antonelli only separated by half a second with six laps to go.

14:23 Moto3 - Silverstone: A disappointing race for Miguel Oliviera, the Portuguese who has won two races this year is currently racing in 17th.

14:25 Moto3 - Silverstone: Bagnaia has closed the gap to Antonelli to just three-tenths as the pair battle for third

14:25 MotoGP - Silverstone: Miller has been given a single penalty point on his licence for crashing into LCR team-mate Crutchlow as they ran fourth and fifth today. That's probably not as painful as the reception in the garage was.

14:26 DTM - Moscow Raceway: So what does that all mean for the championship, with six races remaining? This.

1. Ekstrom, 126
2. Wehrlein, 120
3. Mortara, 110
4. Green, 103
5. Spengler, 85
6. Wittmann, 75
7. Paffett, 75
8. Rockenfeller, 67

14:26 Moto3 - Silverstone: Bagnaia/Antonelli dicing back and forth, Antonelli comes out on top, coming out onto at the start-finish straight

14:27 Moto3 - Silverstone: Tonucci and wildcard rider Luke Hedgar are down

14:28 WEC - Nurburgring: The LMP2-leading #47 ORECA has made a stop. Bradley is now at the wheel.

14:29 Moto3 - Silverstone: Fenati has managed to rejoin the race and is 16th just 0.7 behind15th placed Manzi.

14:31 Moto3 - Silverstone A near miss for Danny Kent who nearly lost his bike down the pit straight

14:32 Moto3 - Silverstone Bagnaia takes Antonelli at the start -finish straight to take the final rostrum position away from his fellow Italian

14:34 Moto3 - Silverstone Bagnaia is down after chasing Nico Antonelli

14:35 Moto3 - Silverstone Second place championship man, Enea Bastianini is down as Danny Kent heads out onto the last lap

14:37 Moto3 - Silverstone Danny Kent takes the Moto3 victory, what a controlled and dominant performance in the pouring rain, a fine way the end the weekend with a Brit on the top step!

14:37 DTM - Moscow Raceway: MITCHELL ADAM's report from Sunday's race, as Mike Rockenfeller gets his first win for two years and the championship lead changes hands yet again:

Audi's Mike Rockenfeller scores first win for two years

Mike Rockenfeller, Audi, Moscow DTM 2015

14:38 Moto3 - Silverstone Jakub Kornfeil takes his career best finish in second place with Niccolo Antonelli in third after an epic battle with Bagnaia, his second this season

14:38 WEC - Nurburgring: A three-day crowd figure of 62,000 has been released by the Nurburgring. Not bad for the first world championship sportscar race at the 'Ring since 1991

14:39 Moto3 - Silverstone Not a bad weekend for fellow Brit John McPhee who finished sixth!

14:40 Moto3 - Silverstone Fenati who was fighting for the podium at one point finishes 12th, Oliviera finishes 13th

14:41 Moto3 - Silverstone Quartararo crosses the line in 4th, with Livio Loi 5th, Guevera 7th, Dalla Porta 8th, Efren Vazquez 9th and Suzuki rounds off the top ten

14:42 WEC - Nurburgring:: The latest pitstops in P2 are complete, and Bradley leads Gonzalez by 18s with Canal in the second G-Drive Ligier a further 11s behind.

14:43 Moto3 - Silverstone Danny Kent gets a hero's welcome from the crowd as he pulls into parc ferme

14:45 Moto3 - Silverstone Antonelli, "Jakub was too difficult to pass"

14:51 Moto3 - Silverstone What a performance from the Brit.

Kent, "It's such an amazing win, it's a dream"

"I'd like to dedicate to all my fans, friends, family"

Danny Kent extends his championship lead with a massive 70 points lead to nearest rival Bastianini

14:53 WEC - Nurburgring: The #18 Porsche comes into the pits for fuel and tyres Jani stays aboard.

14:53 With the track action at Silverstone and Moscow Raceway over, AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live now concentrates on the Nurburgring WEC race, which has a little over two hours left to run.

A reminder that we'll then return for the IndyCar title decider at Sonoma, from 21.45 (UK time).

14:55 WEC - Nurburgring: Here's the current order up front:

1 #17 Porsche (Webber)
2 #7 Audi (Treluyer)
3 #18 Porsche (Jani)
4 #8 Audi (Jarvis)
5 #1 Toyota (Buemi)
6 #2 Toyota (Conway)

14:58 WEC - Nurburgring: In LMP2, the order is:

1 #47 ORECA (Bradley)
2 #28 Ligier (Gonzalez)
3 #26 Ligier (Canal)
4 #43 Morgan (Hamilton)
5 #42 Gibson (Leventis)
6 #36 ORECA (Capillaire)
7 #30 Ligier (Heinemeier ansson)

14:59 WEC - Nurburgring: It's still going well for Porsche in GTE Pro:

1 #91 Porsche (Lietz)
2 #92 Porsche (Pilet)
3 #71 Ferrari (Rigon)
4 #95 Aston Martin (Nygaard)
5 #99 Aston Martin (Stanaway)
6 #97 Aston Martin (Mucke)
7 #51 Ferrari (Bruni)

15:00 WEC - Nurburgring: And in GTE Am:

1 #77 Porsche (Long)
2 #98 Aston Martin (Lamy)
3 #83 Ferrari (Collard)
4 #50 Chevrolet (Roda)
5 #72 Ferrari (Bertolini)
6 #88 Porsche (Al Qubaisi)
7 #96 Aston Martin (Hall)

15:01 WEC - Nurburgring: The #18 Porsche has two hours, give or take, to make up a 30s deficit to the second-place Audi if it is going to make it a one-two for the marque on home ground today. That would be a measure of the 919 Hybrid's superiority given that the car has spent 1m35s stationary in the pits courtesy of its penalties for fuel-useage violations.

15:03 WEC - Nurburgring: Canal takes second place in LMP2 from team-mate Gonzalez after the latter made contact with Poulsen in the GTE Am Corvette.

15:05 WEC - Nurburgring: Christensen takes over the GTE Pro class-leading #91 Porsche from Lietz.

15:06 WEC - Nurburgring: Pilet had been making up a bit of ground to team-mate and GTE Pro leader Lietz before those stops.

15:07 WEC - Nurburgring: That 30s gap mentioned a couple of minutes ago is now down to 20s!

15:15 WEC Nurburgring: Capillaire has a quick spin in the #36 ORECA after carrying too much speed into the chicane.

15:15 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani is now with Jarvis and looking for a way through into third.

15:16 WEC Nurburgring: A full-course yellow has been thrown to allow the track at the chicane to be cleaned up.

15:17 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani had made it ahead of the Audi just before the yellow flags flew

15:18 WEC - Nurburgring: Webber brings the leading #17 Porsche into the pits under the full-course yellow.

15:19 WEC - Nurburgring: Unsurprisingly, the other Porsche and the two Audis have also taken a chance to pit.

15:21 WEC - Nurburgring: The #42 Gibson is in the garage - looks like it's for a change of rear bodywork.

15:24 WEC - Nurburgring: Back to racing

15:25 WEC - Nurburgring: Leventis has a brief off in the #42 Gibson straight after the restart. That's been compounded by it being issued with a penalty for speeding in the pits.

15:26 WEC - Nurburgring: The #50 Chevrolet has been hit with a 35-second penalty for speeding in the pits.

15:28 WEC - Nurburgring: Hartley still leads comfortably in the #17 Porsche.

15:32 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani, driving the #18 Porsche, is in third pace and now eight seconds behind the #7 Audi of Lotterer.

15:33 WEC - Nurburgring: Treluyer is doing a good job in trying to keep a gap to the chasing Porsche of Jani. Di Grassi, meanwhile, has just posted the #8 Audi's fastest lap of the race.

15:39 WEC - Nurbugring: Bertolini passes Dalla Lana to take the lead in GTE Am.

15:43 WEC - Nurburgring: It's been another quiet race for Toyota, which holds a distant fifth and sixth.

15:45 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani is struggling to make up those handful of seconds to Treluyer, but he is doubling his tyres - of sorts. He pitted during the most recent full-course yellow and effectively did the splash-and-dash that the #18 Porsche would otherwise had to have done at the end of the race.

15:46 Super GT - Suzuka 1000km: The Nurburgring isn't the iconic circuit to host an endurance race of note today.

The Japanese Super GT series had its 1000km race at Suzuka (although poor weather meant the race hit its time limit before reaching that distance) and Britain's James Rossiter claimed victory for the TOM'S Lexus team for the second straight year.

On this occasion, he was sharing with Daisuke Ito, who picked up his third win in the race, 11 years after his last.

Last year, Rossiter shared the victory with Toyota WEC driver and ex-F1 man Kazuki Nakajima (pictured).

James Rossiter/Kazuki Nakajimi, Super GT Suzuka 1000km 2014

15:50 WEC Nurburgring: Jani in the #18 Porsche is now within 1.5 seconds of second-placed Treluyer.

15:53 WEC - Nurburgring: Treluyer gets held up by a GTE Am Porsche through the final corner and Jani gets a run on him. But Treluyer defends into Turn 1 and holds the position.

15:55 WEC - Nurburgring: The battle between Treluyer and Jani on the last lap helped di Grassi to close up.

15:59 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani dives to the inside of Treluyer into Turn 1, but runs deep and Treluyer is able to come back at him. They run side-by-side into Turn 2, briefly making contact, with Treluyer just holding on. Great stuff - but it has also allowed di Grassi to join the battle.

15:59 WEC - Nurburgring: And di Grassi passes Jani for third into the hairpin.

16:01 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani attempts to re-take third from di Grassi at Turn 1, but can't make it stick.

16:03 WEC - Nurburgring: Di Grassi passes Treluyer to take second.

16:04 WEC - Nurburgring: Meanwhile, Hartley has a big lead up front in the #17 Porsche.

16:05 WEC - Nurburgring: Beche spins in the troubled #12 Rebellion.

16:06 WEC - Nurburgring: In LMP2, Bradley still leads comfortably in the #47 ORECA, with Canal second in the #26 Ligier.

16:07 WEC - Nurburgring: Treluyer dives into the pits in the #7 Audi. Could be tight for fuel to the end with 52 minutes remaining. Lotterer takes over.

16:10 WEC - Nurburgring: Jani pits in the #18 Porsche.

16:13 WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb takes over the #18 Porsche to take the car to the finish.

16:15 WEC - Nurburgring: The leader is in as well, with Hartley handing over to Webber. Webber should be able to reel off the laps to take his first WEC victory.

16:17 WEC - Nurburgring: So after what should be the final round of pitstops, here's how things stand in the podium battle:

1 #17 Porsche (Webber)
2 #18 Porsche (Lieb)
3 #7 Audi (Lotterer)
4 #8 Audi (Di Grassi)

16:18 WEC - Nurburgring: The #8 Audi of di Grassi suffered with a slow pitstop, which dropped it to fourth.

16:18 WEC - Nurbrugring: Lieb is up to second ahead of Lotterer courtesy of a couple of quick laps after his stop and a slow stop for di Grassi, who is now fourth

16:23 WEC - Nurburgring: Di Grassi passes Lotterer to take third place. Lotterer didn't put up much of a fight in the #7 Audi. So the question is, can di Grassi do anything about second-placed Lieb?

16:24 WEC - Nurburgring: Di Grassi is 4.2s behind Lieb and closing...

16:26 WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb has pulled out his advantage in second place to five seconds.

16:31 WEC - Nurburgring: With 30 minutes remaining, the focus is on the battle for second. Lieb holds the position in the #18 Porsche, but he has just made contact with Panciatici in the #36 ORECA and picked up some minor front-right bodywork damage.

16:35 WEC - Nurburgring: The second-placed GTE Pro Porsche of Pilet has been hit with a penalty for an incident several hours ago, when Makowiecki hit Calado's Ferrari at the start of a full-course yellow.

16:37 WEC - Nurburgring: Pilet comes in to serve his penalty, but retains second place in class as Rigon, in the #71 Ferrari, was too far behind to jump ahead.

16:38 WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb's advantage in second place over di Grassi is currently just under four seconds.

16:40 WEC - Nurburgring: Tandy is bringing the #47 ORECA home in the final stint. That will be the second successive LMP2 win for the car after its Le Mans success.

KCMG/Tandy/Bradley/Howson, Nurburgring WEC 2015

16:45 WEC - Nurburgring: The battle for second is still alive, although di Grassi has proved unable to close the gap. He is 4.7s behind Lieb.

16:47 WEC - Nurburgring: Just 13 minutes remaining. Webber is reeling off the laps on the way to his first WEC win.

16:53 WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb looks to have second place sewn up - he's now 7.5s clear of di Grassi.

16:56 WEC - Nurburgring: Lotterer takes third place from the sister Audi of di Grassi - seems that as the Brazilian couldn't do anything about attacking Lieb, they have swapped back round again.

17:01 WEC - Nurburgring: And Webber crosses the line to take victory in the #17 Porsche.

17:01 WEC - Nurburgring: Here's the final result up front in LMP1:

1 #17 Porsche (Bernhard/Webber/Hartley)
2 #18 Porsche (Jani/Dumas/Lieb)
3 #7 Audi (Fassler/Treluyer/Lotterer)
4 #7 Audi (Di Grassi/Jarvis/Duval)
5 #1 Toyota (Buemi/Nakajima/Davidson)
6 #2 Toyota (Conway/Sarrazin/Wurz)

17:04 WEC - Nurburgring: Here's how the other three classes ended up:

LMP2
1 #47 ORECA (Tandy/Howson/Bradley)
2 #26 Ligier (Bird/Yacaman/Canal)
3 #28 Ligier (Yacaman/Derani/Gonzalez)

GTE Pro
1 #91 Porsche (Lietz/Christensen)
2 #92 Porsche (Makowiecki/Pilet)
3 #71 Ferrari (Rigon/Calado)

GTE Am
1 #72 Ferrari (Shaytar/Bertolini/Basov)
2 #98 Aston Martin (Lauda/Dalla Lana/Lamy)
3 #83 Ferrari (Aguas/Collard/Perrodo)

17:04 WEC - Nurburgring: Another fine race for WEC - our full report by GARY WATKINS will be posted very shortly.

17:10 A reminder of the other big stories today.

Valentino Rossi mastered the conditions at a rain-hit MotoGP British Grand Prix at Silverstone to re-establish his championship lead.

He had come into the weekend tied on points with Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, but the Spaniard had to make do with fourth after leading early on, with Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso instead making the podium. Marc Marquez crashed in his pursuit of Rossi.

Valentino Rossi wins wet race to resurrect lead

And in the DTM at Moscow Raceway, Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller won the Sunday race from pole position to score his first win since the series’ first visit to Russia two years ago.

After Mercedes F1 junior Pascal Wehrlein had reclaimed the championship lead by winning on Saturday, Mattias Ekstrom bounced back from his clash with Timo Glock to finish third and steal the initiative back.

Audi's Mike Rockenfeller scores first win for two years

17:22 MotoGP - Silverstone: Marquez has declared that his hopes of winning a third straight MotoGP title are over after crashing out earlier.

17:36 Thanks for joining us on AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live today. We'll be back for coverage of the IndyCar championship decider at Sonoma from 21.45 UK time.

Next week we'll have full live coverage of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, plus much more on a busy weekend of motorsport.

Juan Pablo Montoya, Sonoma IndyCar 2015

20:44 Welcome back to AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live. Just one more race to come this evening - but there's a title on the line and six drivers going for it.

It's time for the Sonoma IndyCar season finale.

20:57 IndyCar - Sonoma: We're five minutes from the command to start engines, and have just witnessed a pre-race ceremony that, as you'd expect, was dominated by memorials to Justin Wilson. It's a heartbroken paddock that has assembled in northern California this weekend.

21:00 IndyCar - Sonoma: On a happier note, there is a very good crowd here - certainly the biggest in the four years that I've been coming here - and the weather is perfect.

Championship battle aside, the story of the day is going to be tyres. Firestone has a new harder compound this weekend, and we learned yesterday that it's actually pretty close to the softer red alternate - in fact, front row starters Will Power and Josef Newgarden both set their fastest qualifying laps on the blacks, which is all but unheard of.

The flipside to this is that they degrade dramatically, and quickly. Managing that will be the key to success today.

21:02 IndyCar - Sonoma: There's the command to start engines. As the PR person from Panther Racing used to say: let's light this candle.

21:07 IndyCar - Sonoma: Green flag

21:09 IndyCar - Sonoma: Clean start, and Montoya is up to fourth. Rahal got roughed up a bit and has fallen to ninth.

21:11 IndyCar - Sonoma: Power has scooted off to a substantial early lead; Newgarden is behind him with Hunter-Reay in pursuit. Montoya's fourth.

21:12 IndyCar - Sonoma: Castroneves is pitting. He started 15th, and was complaining on the radio about understeer - he had his front wing bumped on the opening lap.

21:13 IndyCar - Sonoma: Almost everyone in the top 10 has started on the softer red tyres. The one exception is Andretti, who is down in 10th. Now Bourdais pits - clearly KV are rolling the dice on strategy too.

21:16 IndyCar - Sonoma: Add Jakes, Vautier and Hawksworth to the early-stopper list. Up front, the leaders have settled onto a pace and there hasn't been much change.

21:24 IndyCar - Sonoma: Newgarden has been 0.2s quicker than Power over the last few laps, and what was a 1.6s gap has been closed down to 0.4s.

21:26 IndyCar - Sonoma: Increasing amount of chatter over the radio about degrading tyres. Power, Newgarden and Rahal are pitting.

21:29 IndyCar - Sonoma: Near miss in the pits there - Pagenaud was waiting for Power to clear the pits so that he could turn in to his own pitbox. Newgarden was exiting the box immediately behind, was blocked in, and it looks like they might have bumped each other. Newgarden almost hit one of the Penske crew members, too.

21:29 IndyCar - Sonoma: OK, while we were tying to make sense of that, a bunch of other people have pitted, and Marco Andretti currently leads. That pitlane incident is under review.

21:32 IndyCar - Sonoma: The current top four: Andretti, Saavedra, Aleshin and Servia, all of whom are off-sequence. Power is fifth, and Dixon has leapfrogged Montoya - the championship leader is now eighth (which should shake out to fifth when the four renegades up front pit).

21:34 IndyCar - Sonoma: Helio makes his second stop.

21:35 IndyCar - Sonoma: And up front, Saavedra has just passed Andretti for the lead. Every team in pitlane will be watching to see how far these guys can push the black tyres.

21:37 IndyCar - Sonoma: There will be one of those tiresome post-race reviews to decide whether anyone did anything wrong during that stop. Pagenaud is under investigation for impeding Newgarden; Newgarden will be investigated for driving through another car's pit and driving over another car's pit equipment.

With three officials in race control I'd like to think that they could just make a call on that now, but I guess that's just me.

21:38 IndyCar - Sonoma: Anyway, those last few hold-outs up from have finally pitted, and Power is back into the lead. Newgarden is 1.1s behind him; Dixon another 1.5s down the road in third.

21:40 IndyCar - Sonoma: Rahal has made up a couple of places to P7, but he has a lot more work to do: if the race were to end now he'd have fallen from second in the championship to fourth.

21:41 IndyCar - Sonoma: Pagenaud pits again. This time, it's uneventful.

21:47 IndyCar - Sonoma: Kanaan pits, and Montoya and Rahal are now running fifth and sixth on the track. It's less exciting than it sounds though, because they're almost 1.8s apart.

Up front, Power leads Newgarden by 1.1s; Dixon is 3.1s down the road.

21:51 IndyCar - Sonoma: Montoya is stalking Hunter-Reay for fourth, but not with any particular urgency. It's something that the Andretti driver could do without though, as there has been a lot of chatter on his radio about looking after his fuel.

21:51 IndyCar - Sonoma: Filippi has slowed on the front straight.

21:52 IndyCar - Sonoma: He tells the team that he can't get it back to the pits, and race control throws the first full-course caution.

21:53 IndyCar - Sonoma: Hunter-Reay to his team: 'I'm going backwards, Montoya is eating me up'.

21:55 IndyCar - Sonoma: It sounds like the leaders are going to pit when pitlane opens next time around. Quite a few of the others are going to gamble on staying out.

22:00 IndyCar - Sonoma: Pitlane is open and Power, Newgarden, Dixon, Hunter-Reay, Montoya, Rahal, Kimball, Briscoe, Aleshin, Gonzalez, Coletti and Hawksworth pit.

The guys who stayed out: Saavedra, Andretti, Servia, Kanaan, Bourdais, Castroneves, Sato, Pagenaud, Jakes, Munoz, Chaves and Vautier.

22:01 IndyCar - Sonoma: Pace car in next time by.

22:02 IndyCar - Sonoma: Sounds like Filippi had a throttle sensor problem.

22:03 IndyCar - Sonoma: Restart

22:04 IndyCar - Sonoma: Someone is off at Turn 1

22:04 IndyCar - Sonoma: And it is Will Power!

22:05 IndyCar - Sonoma: And a replay shows that Power was turned around by ... Juan Pablo Montoya

22:07 IndyCar - Sonoma: That's going to make for an interesting chat in the Penske garage later. Looks like Montoya has sustained damage to his front wing, too.

22:08 IndyCar - Sonoma:And they pit again. We need to see another replay, but at first glance it looks like JPM couldn't have done much about that - it looked like Power left a gap, and then closed it again.

22:10 IndyCar - Sonoma: So after stopping for repairs, Power and Montoya are now P22 and P23 respectively. Montoya still leads the championship, but with Rahal in 11th, there's only 10 points between them right now.

22:12 IndyCar - Sonoma: A lot of the guys up front will have to stop soon, so this could be a huge stint for Rahal.

22:12 IndyCar - Sonoma: Restart

22:13 IndyCar - Sonoma: Race control has confirmed that there will be no action taken regarding the Power/Montoya incident, but that last restart is under review.

22:14 IndyCar - Sonoma: That incident has also brought Dixon right into the title hunt - he is only 13 points behind Montoya as things stand.

Castroneves and Vautier are being investigated for blocking on that last restart.

22:16 IndyCar - Sonoma: No action taken on that restart. Up front, Kanaan has passed Saavedra for the lead.

22:21 IndyCar - Sonoma: The off-sequence guys at the front are starting to make their stops, which is moving everyone else up the order.

22:23 IndyCar - Sonoma: Kanaan leads, but Dixon has cycled up to second, and has has moved into the championship lead. Rahal is fourth, and now heads Montoya by two points.

22:24 IndyCar - Sonoma: The championship is changing by the lap: right now the score is Dixon 533, Montoya 532, Rahal 530.

22:25 IndyCar - Sonoma: And it has just changed again, because Kanaan has pitted and Dixon now leads, blowing his points lead out to 20 points. Montoya is 13th and has a lot of work to do.

22:26 IndyCar - Sonoma: It's also worth noting that Rahal is ahead of Montoya again, by two points. The current running order is Dixon, Newgarden, Rahal, Kimball, Briscoe.

22:33 IndyCar - Sonoma: Ganassi's Saavedra is making life hell for Power. Montoya has made better progress and is 11th, but still has ground to make up to keep his title hopes alive - and he could have done without conceding a place to Kanaan just a moment ago.

22:34 IndyCar - Sonoma: Someone has gone off at Turn 6, but it looks like they kept going. Not sure who it was.

22:36 IndyCar - Sonoma: Rahal is in a world of hurt with his tyres: 'I can't brake anywhere or I am just going to spin'.

22:39 IndyCar - Sonoma: Newgarden pits from P2 - it's a slow stop; they have a problem with the starter - and now there's a small fuel fire. That gets put out quickly, but the car is still stationary.

Dixon pits from the lead.

22:41 IndyCar - Sonoma: Horrible luck for Newgarden, but it's part of the story of CFH Racing this year - lots of promise, occasionally wobbly execution. Rahal has also pitted and thrown on some new reds for what will probably be his final stop.

Newgarden is STILL in the pits.

22:41 IndyCar - Sonoma: Hunter-Reay briefly led after Dixon's stop, but the Andretti car swings onto pit road and Dixon reclaims P1.

22:42 IndyCar - Sonoma: Now Montoya pits from ninth.

22:42 IndyCar - Sonoma: There has been a crash, just as Kanaan was pitting.

22:43 IndyCar - Sonoma: It's James Jakes at Turn 9

22:44 IndyCar - Sonoma: Jakes is fine - he's out of the car and standing there with his hands on his hips looking annoyed.

22:45 IndyCar - Sonoma: Pagenaud on the radio: 'Is this good or bad?' Team: 'Not good for us Might help your team-mates some'.

22:46 IndyCar - Sonoma: The Jakes crash was a strange one - he was braking and the car just snapped left - at a right-hand corner. Early indications are that it was a brake failure.

22:47 IndyCar - Sonoma: There are 20 laps to go and Montoya is currently 17th, although a few cars ahead of him need to stop once more.

If Dixon wins, Montoya needs to finish fifth or better. If he finishes sixth, he'll match Dixon on points but lose on a countback.

22:50 IndyCar - Sonoma: Still under yellow, and Saavedra, Pagenaud, Chaves, Servia and Castroneves pit.

That means that Dixon leads from Hunter-Reay and Kimball, then Briscoe and Coletti.

22:53 IndyCar - Sonoma: Restart

22:54 IndyCar - Sonoma: The restart is under review, but everyone is through the first couple of corners cleanly. Kanaan pulled a nice move on Hunter-Reay; Power let Montoya past.

22:55 IndyCar - Sonoma: Hawksworth and Sato spin; Munoz is stranded on top of the kerbs.

22:55 IndyCar - Sonoma: That's obviously a caution.

22:56 IndyCar - Sonoma: So here's where we're at: Dixon leads from Hunter-Reay and Kimball; Montoya is up to eighth. The cars ahead of him are Bourdais, Rahal and Briscoe.

Remember if Dixon wins, Montoya needs to finish fifth. Rahal is back to third in the points now.

23:00 IndyCar - Sonoma: Green flag; 12 laps to go

23:01 IndyCar - Sonoma: Clean restart. Drive-through for Hawksworth for avoidable contact.

23:01 IndyCar - Sonoma: Kanaan, Briscoe, Rahal, Bourdais and Montoya are nose to tail.

23:05 IndyCar - Sonoma: Ten laps to go. Montoya doesn't look like he can do anything about the cars ahead.

23:05 IndyCar - Sonoma: Bourdais has tipped Rahal into a spin!

23:07 IndyCar - Sonoma: That has moved Montoya up to seventh. He needs two more places to win the title, with eight laps to go.

23:08 IndyCar - Sonoma: Bourdais has a little damage to his wing, but the real question is whether he will get a penalty. Even if he does, Montoya needs to close down a three second gap to Briscoe.

23:08 IndyCar - Sonoma: Drive-through penalty for Bourdais for contact.

23:10 IndyCar - Sonoma: Six laps to go. If Montoya can close down a 2.8s gap and pass Briscoe, he wins the title. If he doesn't, Dixon wins. Simple.

23:12 IndyCar - Sonoma: Four to go, Montoya trails Briscoe by 2.9s; Dixon looks comfortable in front.

23:13 IndyCar - Sonoma: Montoya is flying - Briscoe can now see him in his mirrors. The Australian is on the red tyres, so he can't have much grip left.

23:14 IndyCar - Sonoma: Three laps to go, and as much as Montoya is surging, it looks like he will run out of laps. Dixon looks very comfortable.

23:15 IndyCar - Sonoma: White flag, one to go. Montoya is 1.6s behind Briscoe; Dixon is miles out in front.

23:16 IndyCar - Sonoma: Dixon crosses the line to take the win ...

23:17 IndyCar - Sonoma: ... and Briscoe holds off a late charge from Montoya.

Scott Dixon wins the 2015 IndyCar championship on a tie-break!

23:19 IndyCar - Sonoma:

So the top five were:

Dixon
Hunter-Reay
Kimball
Kanaan
Briscoe
